Supporting Army Veteran with Mortgage Free Home

PERRY HOMES PARTNERS WITH BUILDING HOMES FOR HEROES AND HILLWOOD COMMUNITIES TO CONSTRUCT HOME FOR WOUNDED VETERAN

Specially-Designed Home to be Built in Wolf Ranch Development by Hillwood Communities

AUSTIN — Perry Homes, Building Homes for Heroes, and Hillwood Communities today announced theirfirst-ever partnership to construct a specialized home in Wolf Ranch, a master-planned development byHillwood Communities, for an Army veteran who was severely injured while serving overseas. Army Sgt.Kristopher Biggs lost his left leg and suffered a traumatic brain injury during an attack in Iraq in 2007, andwill receive one of 40 mortgage-free homes donated to injured soldiers this year through the BuildingHomes for Heroes organization. Sgt. Biggs was awarded the Purple Heart, among many other prestigioushonors, for his dedication and service.

Located in Georgetown along the banks of the San Gabriel River and less than a mile from theintersection of Hwy 29 and I-35, the Wolf Ranch community offers beautiful first-class amenities. Perry Homes will be working closely with Building Homes for Heroes to design a handicap-accessible1,800 sq. ft. home featuring three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a home office, and an extended coveredpatio. Some adaptations include wider hallways, custom kitchen cabinetry, a modified primary bathroomshower, and other safety features designed specifically for Sgt. Biggs.

The local Perry Homes construction management team holds a personal stake in building this new homefor Sgt. Biggs. Project Manager Artie Ellis, an Army veteran himself, will be the lead supervisor on theconstruction of the home and will oversee every special modification needed for Sgt. Biggs. The officialgroundbreaking of the new home is slated for August, with a final completion date expected later this year.

Another large contributor to this new home project is American radio and television personality BobbyBones, who has also partnered with Building Homes for Heroes to provide Sgt. Biggs with this speciallymodified 1800S Perry Homes design. The nationally syndicated Bobby Bones Show has already raisedmore than $110,000 through the show’s #PIMPINJOY movement, dedicated to helping those in need.Funds raised via the movement’s merchandise page, The Shop Forward, will be donated to help adaptand outfit the home for Sgt. Biggs.
