Ingredients:
- 2 cups of heavy cream
- 1 packet of instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1 ½ cups of eggnog
- 1 teaspoon of nutmeg
- Ginger snaps for dipping
Instructions:
Using a stand mixer, beat the heavy cream until peaks begin to form. This will usually take between one to two minutes. Next, whisk the pudding mix and eggnog into a large mixing bowl and let it set for about five minutes. After it is set, fold the pudding into the heavy cream mixture and sprinkle in the nutmeg. If you wish to enjoy this treat cold, let it chill in the fridge for 10-15 minutes. When you are ready to serve, sprinkle more nutmeg on top and plate with gingersnap cookies.
Puppy Chow
Ready for a snack that people of all ages will not be able to put down? Try this classic puppy chow recipe for the perfect winter treat.
Ingredients:
- 6 cups of crispy rice squares cereal
- 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup of creamy peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- ¾ cup of powdered sugar
Instructions
Place the crispy rice cereal squares into a large bowl and set them aside. Combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter into a small, microwave-safe glass bowl and microwave for one minute or until the mixture begins to melt. Remove the mixture from the microwave and stir for 30 seconds. Place the bowl back into the microwave for another 30 seconds and stir until it is smooth. Mix in the vanilla while the mixture is still hot. Next, add the chocolate mixture to the bowl with the cereal. Stir it gently to evenly coat the cereal while being sure that you do not crush the squares. Place the mixture into a large, zipped plastic bag and add powdered sugar. After sealing the bag, shake until your snack is fully coated in powdered sugar. Remove the mixture from the wax paper and allow it to cool. Enjoy!
White Hot Chocolate
A fun twist on a classic winter beverage, this homemade white hot chocolate recipe will keep everyone in your household cozy.
Ingredients:
- 4 cups of your milk of choice (you can substitute heavy cream, half and half, or create a combination)
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 8 ounces of white chocolate (you can chop it yourself or simply buy chocolate chips)
- Whipped cream, marshmallows or any other topping you may desire
Instructions:
Place the milk, vanilla and white chocolate in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring until they come to a simmer. Be cautious that you do not let the mixture begin to boil, as this will burn the chocolate. Once the hot chocolate has reached the ideal temperature, remove it from the heat immediately and serve. Add toppings to your taste.
